Babe Ruth hit his first Major League home run at the Polo Grounds in 1915 in a game against the New York Yankees while playing for the Boston Red Sox. In 1922 he hit his last home run at the Polo Grounds with the New York Yankees against... the Boston Red Sox.

The New York Yankees hold several American League records including: highest batting average by a pennant winner (.307 in 1927), highest slugging average during a single season (.489 in 1927), most runs scored during a single season (1,067 in 1931), and most runs batted in during a single season (995 in 1936).
