Walker Cooper (1944 All-Star Game), Yogi Berra (1951 All-Star Game) and Roy Campanella (1953 All-Star Game) each threw out two baserunners attempting to steal second during an All-Star Game. Lance Parrish tied then broke the record during the 1982 All-Star Game when he caught Al Oliver, Ozzie Smith and Steve Sax attempting to steal second.

The National League had thirty-four wins, eighteen losses, and one tie through this Midsummer Classic. One that went down as a win even though only one player had more than one hit.

Billy Martin, the American League skipper, said before the game, "They should have thirty-five guys on the All-Star squads, not twenty-eight, but then I suppose forty guys would complain."
