Loras College Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Loras College alumnus who played baseball at the Loras College AND made it to the Major League level.

"Urban 'Red' Faber proved his greatness by winning 254 games for the White Sox, who finished in the second division in 15 of his 20 seasons. The durable right-hander possessed a good fastball, but increasingly used his spitball to force batters to drive the ball into the ground." - National Baseball Hall of Fame

The Loras College baseball program started in 1873 and Red Faber was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Loras College Hall of Fame.

Did you know that Red Faber appeared in four (4) games & won three (3) during the 1917 World Series — the second Chicago White Sox World Championship?

Frank Quilici had a World Series "moment" of his own when he hit a single and a double during the same inning (3rd) of the 1965 World Series (Game 1)—the hurler he faced during the record tying moment was hall of famer Don Drysdale.
