The University of British Columbia's baseball program started in part with seed money from Ryan Dempster, Larry Walker and Jeff Zimmerman and Jeff Francis was their first player to make it to the Major League level.
Minor League News ran a story called The Fab 50 in 2004 and Jeff Francis finished third overall (B.J. Upton was first & Jason Kubel was second). In that article Colorodo Rockies Director of Player Personnel Bill Geivett said, "He's obviously dominating the Texas League."
Did you know that there is only one (1) former University of British Columbia players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
