University of California, Irvine Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

The University of California, Irvine's baseball program started in 1970 and Gary Wheelock was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of California, Irvine Hall of Fame.

UCI won its first NCAA Division II baseball championship in 1973, when the Anteaters defeated Ithaca College, 9-6, in the final at Springfield, Illinois. UCI catcher Terry Stupy was named MVP of the national tournament. Also on the all-tournament team were Jeff Malinoff, Jack Cleveland, Rod Spence, Gary Wheelock and Jerry Maras.
