The University of San Francisco baseball program started in 1889 and Joe Giannini was their first player to make it to the Major League level. The first Don to hit a home run in the major leagues was Ernie Sulik who went deep on May 22, 1936 versus Dick Coffman.

The first pitcher from the University of San Francisco was Clarence Fieber who finished his major league career undefeated. The second pitching Don was Con Dempsey, who finished his major league career without a single win.
