The Washington State University baseball program started in 1892 and Art McLarney was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Washington State University Hall of Fame.
The college adopted the Cougars as their mascot after Governor Roland Hartley of Washington gave a cougar cub named Butch (in honor of football star Herbert "Butch" Meeker) to the students of Washington State College in 1927.
Did you know that there are thirty-one (31) former Washington State University players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
