"I'm embarrassed at what happened. I'm embarrassed for the Yankees, the Red Sox, the fans, the umpires and my family. That's all I have to say. I'm sorry," - Don Zimmer (October 13, 2003)

How do you feel about this particular incident? Were the fines "in order" or would you have dealt them out differently? Was Don Zimmer out of line? Was Pedro Martinez? Were the apologies necessary? Share your opinion on Baseball Fever.

This piece of art was brought on after the events which took place during Game 3 of the 2003 American League Championship Series (ALCS) played on Saturday, October 11, 2003. The New York Yankees & Boston Red Sox have had a long standing feud and during this particular game Pedro Martinez threw a pitch that hit Karim Garcia during the fourth inning. The benches cleared, the teams met near home plate and Don Zimmer lunged at Pedro Martinez, who grabbed the 72-year-old bench coach and threw him to the ground. Zimmer was fined $5,000, Martinez $50,000, Manny Ramirez $25,000 and Garcia $10,000 — all stemming from this single event.
