Did you know that the last Midsummer Classic played in Philadelphia was a five inning affair? The 1952 All-Star Game was played in Shibe Park and ended early due to inclement weather (rain).

During the 1975 All-Star Game American League President Lee MacPhail urged the manager to do everything possible to win the game (they lost 6-3). Prior to this game he personally sent a letter to every junior circuit All-Star telling each of them important it was to win (they lost again 7-1).

This particular victory was a sure sign of National League dominance of the era as it was their thirteenth win in the last fourteen contests.
