Autograph Of The Week: Gary Carter

On May 17, 1992, Gary Carter was back with the Montreal Expos and caught career game number two-thousand. In the history of Major League Baseball, only three catchers to this point had been durable enough to accomplish this feat and Gary Carter joined that truly elite group.

"If the (Montreal) Expos come up with an offer I can't refuse, I wouldn't turn it down." - Hall of Famer Gary Carter

Did you know that Gary Carter received over one-hundred scholarship offers and that they were all for football?

During the early part of his career, Gary Carter once commented, "I was the worst catcher you ever saw, a real joke." And, during the minor leagues he was charged a quarter for every ball he dropped while catching games!

Gary Carter's favorite memory? After the New York Mets clinched the pennant during a sixteen inning game in 1986 he said, "That has to be the greatest game that ever lived!"
