Autograph Of The Week: Steve Garvey

Steve Garvey has been described by hundreds of fans and fellow players as one of the nicest men to play our national pastime. On June 5, 1986, Garvey was on-deck and argued the last out of a triple play turned by the Atlanta Braves. Garvey was subsequently ejected for the first time in his Major League career.

However, Baseball Almanac did not choose Steve Garvey as our Autograph of the Week because of his "nice-guy" attitude or his first career ejection. We chose Garvey because he played in his 1,000th consecutive game on June 7, 1982. An Ironman feat that had only been accomplished four times prior in major league history!
