The Gold Glove Award was first presented by the St. Louis-based Rawlings corporation in 1957 to honor the eighteen best fielders at their positions. Rawlings used a combination of defensive statistics along with visual effect to determine the winner and honored the recipient with a large gold glove. Voting is currently done by the managers and coaches from each Major League team who are NOT able to select their own players. A comprehensive list of Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners at the outfielders position in the National League, research by Baseball Almanac.

Rawlings Gold Glove Award |
The National League had two outfielders, Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays, that set the standard by which all future outfielders will be judged.
Did you know that Tommie Agee was the first outfielder to win a Gold Glove from both the American (1966 Chicago White Sox) and National League (1970 New York Mets)?
In 2023, Brenton Doyle of the Colorado Rockies became the first National League outfielder to EVER win a Gold Glove Award, during their rookie season!
