Roland Hemond Award

The Roland Hemond award is presented annually to recognize baseball executives who have provided at least fifteen years of outstanding service to professional baseball and served the Arizona Fall League in a key leadership capacity.

"Rich Garcia's impact has made the Arizona Fall League a necessary stop in an umpire's path to the major leagues. He has exhibited an unwavering commitment to umpire development, particularly in the Arizona Fall League since the 2002 season. Often unrecognized by the public, the unheralded contributions of Rich Garcia and many other baseball professionals such as the eight previous Hemond Award winners continue to serve pivotal roles in the baseball industry that allow it to prosper and thrive."- Arizona Fall League Executive Director Steve Cobb (Press Release, 10/23/2008, Link)
