Box Score of No Hitter by A.J. Burnett
A.J. Burnett, making just his second start of the 2001 season, overcame nine bases on balls and threw the second no-hitter in the Major Leagues this season as the Florida Marlins defeated the San Diego Padres 3-0.
The 24-year-old Burnett battled serious control problems, but was literally helped by the Padres, whose batters repeatedly bailed him out by swinging early in the count. |
|
"I threw maybe 10 curveballs all game. We were just working in and out all night. This is a great feeling. I never thought the second start back I'd throw a no-hitter." - A.J. Burnett
