Houston Astros vs New York Yankees No Hitter Box Score (June 11, 2003)
Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the box score to the record setting no-hitter tossed by six Houston Astros pitcher's at Yankee Stadium. Roy Oswalt, Pete Monro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel and Billy Wagner shut down the Bronx Bombers in the House That Ruth Built — a feat not turned since 1958 (on the road) and 1952 (at home).

"There's no question that we (the New York Yankees) weren't very good tonight, but you don't want to diminish how well they (the Houston Astros) pitched. It was a total inexcusable performance." - Joe Torre

During the Yankee Stadium post-game locker room interviews some interesting comments were made about this particular no-hitter:
Brad Ausmus (Astros Catcher): "We had so many different pitchers coming in, every time someone came in I was trying to figure out how this pitcher matched up with their hitters and how we could get them out. My brain was spinning so much that I just never noticed."
Octavio Dotel (Astros Pitcher): "I knew that we had the no-hitter but I didn't feel any pressure because I said, if they get a base hit, who cares? There were five of us It's not like one person was throwing a no-hitter. It's kind of different, but it's good too."
Brad Lidge (Astros Pitcher): "When I came in, I didn't even realize it was going on until I sat down and was watching TV. Kirk (Saarloos) said the same thing. We weren't thinking about it. It wasn't anything we were aware of until the later innings and at that point we were just not saying anything. We didn't want to mess it up."
Billy Wagner (Astros Closer): "Your first appearance at Yankee Stadium, and it's a no-hitter, and you're a part of it. It doesn't get any better than that. That's a storybook ending for our bullpen to go out and battle. To be able to achieve something like that, it's really special."
Jimy Williams (Astros Manager): "I'll be very honest with you. I didn't know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning. I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had. Then I happened to notice that they didn't have any hits."
A new Major League record for pitchers used during a no-hitter was set during this contest. Prior to this game the American League record was four hurlers: Baltimore (Bob Milacki [6.0 IP], Mike Flanagan [1.0 IP], Mark Williamson [1.0 IP] & Gregg Olson [1.0 IP]) versus Athletics 2-0 on July 13, 1991 AND Athletics (Vida Blue [5.0 IP], Glenn Abbott [1.0 IP], Paul Lindblad [1.0 IP] & Rollie Fingers [2.0 IP) versus Angels 5-0 on September 28, 1975. The previous National League record was three hurlers: Atlanta (Kent Mercker [6.0 IP], Mark Wohlers [1.0 IP] & Alejandro Pena [1.0 IP]) versus the Padres 1-0 on September 11, 1991.
Did you know that Octavio Dotel, who entered the game during the eighth inning, became the forty-fourth Major League pitcher to strike out four batters during the same inning and the first Astros pitcher to fan four in a frame since Mike Scott on September 3, 1986? The play-by-play for that amazing inning: Juan Rivera: Strike swinging, Strike looking, Rivera struck out (1k) swinging. Alfonso Soriano: Foul, Foul, Foul, Soriano struck out (2k), reached on wild pitch. Derek Jeter: Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Foul, Foul, Ball, Jeter struck out (3k) swinging. Jason Giambi: Strike swinging, Foul, Ball, Ball, Foul, Giambi struck out swinging (4k).
