This twin grand slam by one player game was only the eighth instance in major league history and the first ever accomplished by a Chicago White Sox player!

Robin Ventura had eight runs batted in which tied the all time White Sox record set by Jim Spencer in 1977!

Johnny Oates, the manager of the Texas Rangers, had his team pitch around Frank Thomas before each grand slam. After the game Oates commented, "I have a great deal of respect for Robin Ventura, but I also have a great deal of respect for Frank Thomas, neither one is a piece of cake!"
