Major League Home Run Totals by Position

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive Major League home run totals by position chart. The position listed in the chart is defensive in nature and refers specifically to the place on the field the batter had prior to the home run hitting at-bat. Every home run in big league history is accounted for (minus twenty-one which remain unclassified) and included on the chart.

"The home run is the single most dramatic moment in baseball. Often it has been the exclamation point that appears at the end of a game, a season, a playoff, or a World Series. For fans, certain images—such as that of Carlton Fisk urging his shot fair over Green Monster or of Kirk Gibson limping around the bases—are engraved in memory." - Great Home Runs of the 20th Century (Rich Westcott, 03/01/2005, Dust Jacket Description)
