During the first major league season (1876) there were ninety-seven (97) right handed major league ballplayers and ten (10) left handed major league players. Those inaugural lefties were Bob Addy, John Cassidy, Jimmy Hallinan, Bill Harbridge, Fergy Malone, John Mullen, Lip Pike, Billy Redmon, Joe Start & Oscar Walker.
