The Abilene Christian University baseball program started in 1955 and Bill Gilbreth was their first and only (to date) player to make it to the Major League level.

When Bill Gilbreth played at Abilene Christian the school's name was actually Abilene Christian College (which is on his stats page). In 1976 they changed their name to the currently used Abilene Christian University label.
