The California State University, Stanislaus baseball program started in 1957 and Rusty Kuntz was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

On June 23, 1983, five years after his Major League debut, Rusty became the first former Warrior to hit a Major League home run when he went deep in the first inning off Chicago White Sox hurler Floyd Bannister.
