The Cleveland State University baseball program started in 1932, when the university was called Fenn College, and Jerry Dybzinski was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

Two more former major league player attended Cleveland State, but never played baseball for the Vikings. They were Bob Keegan (debuted on May 24, 1953 and played at Bucknell) and Mike Easler (debuted on September 5, 1973).
