Gettysburg College MLB Player Alumnus

The school baseball program started in 1865 and Eddie Plank was their first player to make it to the Major League level. In 1921 the school changed their name from Pennsylvania to Gettysburg College and Stew Bowers was the first major league player to break in who played under the new school name.

Hall of fame hurler Eddie Plank has more shutouts and complete games than any other left-hander in Major League history and did not play baseball before prep school!

Did you know that there are six (6) former Gettysburg Bullets who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
