"It's a good opportunity, going to pitch in that big ballpark (Washington). A couple of teams kept saying, 'We'll get back to you in a week.' But waiting isn't always better. Hopefully I can go to spring training and get back in the situation where I know I should be." - Ray King on ESPN.com (Jerry Crasnick, 12/18/2006)

The Lambuth University baseball program started in 1963 and Ray King was their first — and only — player to date to make it to the Major League level.

Lambuth University was originally called Lambuth College and only recently (in 1991) changed their name.

Did you know that there was only one former Lambuth University player who made it to the show? Send corrections to Baseball Almanac.
