Lubbock Christian University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Lubbock Christian University alumnus who played baseball at Lubbock Christian University AND made it to the Major League level.

"Instead of going out there and finding ways to win a game, we're going out there and finding ways to lose them. It's unbelievable, the complacency, the we'll-get-'em-tomorrow syndrome that permeates this team. Tomorrow's never going to get here. We need to have somebody go up there and grab the bull by the horns and say, 'I'm going to be the difference today. Get on my back, let's go.' There's no fire going on here, and that concerns me." - Randy Velarde in USA Today (Team Notes, 05/15/2001)

Lubbock Christian University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Lubbock Christian University baseball program started in 1971 and John Harris was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Lubbock Christian University Hall of Fame.

Steve Watkins pitched only one season with the Chaparrals, but made a lasting impression on several games including a win during a sweep of Oklahoma Baptist (NAIA #2 Ranking). He won the opener in a pitcher's duel and said, "I was kind of nervous that they might come out and rip me like they (LSU) did yesterday, but we kept them off balance."
