Mansfield University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every Mansfield University alumnus who played baseball at Mansfield University AND made it to the Major League level.

"There isn't anything about baseball I can teach you (Ty Cobb). Anything I might say to you would merely hinder you in your development. The only thing for you to do is go ahead and do as you please. Use your own judgement. You can teach yourself better than any man I know can teach you. You just go ahead and work things out your way. Do what you think is best and I'll back you up." - Detroit Tigers Manager Hughie Jennings in The Detroit News (Joe Falls, 2003)

Mansfield University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Mansfield University baseball program started in 1867 and Hughie Jennings was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the Mansfield University Hall of Fame.

The college is currently called Mansfield University, but that section is not on the chart above as the name change took place in 1983 and Tom Brookens, who graduated in 1974, was their most recent major league player.

Did you know that there are six former Mansfield players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
