"He (Donn Clendenon) was always humble, never cocky. We were still young kids in that era. He was a veteran that came in and made us better." - Shortstop Bud Harrelson (AP Wire, 09/17/2005)

Morehouse College M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Morehouse College baseball program started in 1890 and Donn Clendenon was their first — and only — player to make it to the Major League level.

On June 26, 1962, during the third inning, with no men on base, two outs, Willard Hunter on the mound, Clendenon became the first Maroon Tiger to hit a major league home run.

Did you know that there was only one former Morehouse player who made it to the show? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
