New Mexico State University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every New Mexico State University alumnus who played baseball at New Mexico State University AND made it to the Major League level.

"Acre, who preferred basketball to baseball in his youth, pitched two no-hitters in high school, including a state championship game, and was signed as an undrafted free agent in 1991. The 6' 8" Acre sported a 92-95 mph fastball, supplemented by a forkball and a slider, and was touted by the A's as Dennis Eckersley's successor. But despite his physical tools, Acre lacked intimidating mound presence; furthermore, he struggled in 1995 after his mother died of cancer early in the season." - Steve Holtje on Baseball Library (2006, 'Marc Acre', Source)

New Mexico State M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The New Mexico State University baseball program started in 1981 and Fernando Ramsey was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

Did you know that there are three former New Mexico players who made it to the show? Send updates / corrections to Baseball Almanac.

The last two Aggies who made it to the Major Leagues are pitchers and neither had a Major League hit. Ramsey was a centerfielder, but didn't go deep. So no former New Mexico State University player has hit a Major Leauge home run.
