Southwestern University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The Southwestern University baseball program started in 1878 and Harry Ables was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Although, the first player mentioned in their media guide is Carl Reynolds.

On May 18, 1912, Frank Allen became the first SU Pirate to hit a home run during a Major League game. Seventy-seven years later, Mike Stanton became the first SU Pirate to be named to an All-Star Game (2001).
