St. Bonaventure University Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every St. Bonaventure University alumnus who played baseball at St. Bonaventure University AND made it to the Major League level.

"He (Hughie Jennings) certainly enriched the lexicon of baseball. Jennings would stand in the first-base coaching box, raise his fists, kick one leg into the air and yell: 'Here we are.' Finally, by sacrificing consonants for simplicity, this became 'Eee-Yah.' The fans would pick up the chant whenever Jennings would step onto the field, and sounds would ring through old Bennett Park." - Columnist Joe Falls in The Detroit News (12/19/2002)

St. Bonaventure University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The St. Bonaventure College / University baseball program started in 1882 and Hughie Jennings was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the St. Bonaventure University Hall of Fame.

In 1950 St. Bonaventure College changed their name to St. Bonaventure University. Danny McDevitt, who made his major league debut on June 17, 1957, attended during the transition, but did not play baseball for the Bonnies.

Did you know that there are eight (8) former St. Bonaventure University players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
