"I don't know if you could have gotten closer to winning the World Series (Game 7 of the 2002 World Series). As a person so close, you want to go somewhere where you can get back and hopefully win." - Rich Aurilia in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (Molly Yanity, 01/09/2004)

St. John's University M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The St. John's College / University baseball program started in 1906 and Mickey Rutner was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the St. John's University Hall of Fame.

Three other former Red Storm students made it to the Major League level, but did not play baseball for St. John's University while in attendance. They are: Billy Ott (1959, debuted September 4, 1962), Mike Jorgensen (debuted September 10, 1968) and Terry McDermott (debuted September 12, 1972).

Did you know that there are thirteen (13) former St. John's University players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
