The University of Central Arkansas baseball program started in 1965 and Glenn Abbott was their first player to make it to the Major League level. The school was named State College of Arkansas at that time and in 1975 changed their name to the University of Central Arkansas.

On September 28, 1975, a legendary quartet of hurlers which included Vida Blue, Glenn Abbott, Paul Lindblad & Rollie Fingers became the first major league pitchers in history to throw a combined 4-pitcher no-hitter as they took down the Angels 5-0.
