The University of Central Florida baseball program started in 1973 and Chad Mottola was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

Chad Mottola was also the first player from the University of Central Florida to hit a Major League home run when he went deep on June 5, 1996 against San Francisco Giants hurler Mark Gardner.
