The University of Georgia baseball program started in 1886 and Claud Derrick was their first player to make it to the Major League level.
There have been quite a few additional University of Georgia students who did not play baseball for the Bulldogs, but went on to become major league ballplayers: Bill Calhoun, Hal Epps, Jack Fisher, Ralph Head, Tully Sparks & Jon Warden.
Did you know that there are thirty-three former Georgia players who made it to the show? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.
