University of Michigan Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present a comprehensive chart of every University of Michigan alumnus who played baseball at the University of Michigan AND made it to the Major League level.

"He (J.J. Putz) looks a lot more confident and a lot more aggressive. That stems from the fact that he's throwing with better stuff and better location. It's a nice combination." - Mariners pitching Coach Bryan Price (March 18, 2003)

University of Michigan M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The University of Michigan's baseball program started in 1866 and Frank Bliss was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of Michigan Hall of Fame.

Did you know that there are seventy-two former Michigan players who made it to "the show"? Send corrections or updates to Baseball Almanac.

Scott Kamieniecki (1983-1986) and Gary Wayne (1983-1984), who were the first two Alumni pitchers in a Varsity versus Alumni game played on September 21, 2003, were also the starting pitchers for the Michigan Wolverines during the 1984 College World Series, the last time a Michigan or Big Ten team reached Omaha.
