"I knew the chance of getting traded was pretty good, and I got traded for Todd Walker and Butch Huskey. That was kind of surprising, it really opened my eyes to the business side of baseball." - Todd Sears in Straight From the Source (June 2003)

The University of Nebraska baseball program started in 1889 and Ad Liska was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

On April 12, 2000, ground was broken on a new park for the Huskers baseball team. On June 1, 2001, Hawks Field at Haymarket Park opened its doors & on March 5, 2002 the NU team made their debut on the new field where they defeated Nebraska-Kearney 23-1.
