University of the Pacific Baseball Players Who Made it to the Major Leagues

"I was kind of worried about it (being diagnosed with Diabetes). My mom jumped on the Internet to find out more about the disease, and I found out a lot of [other athletes] have it. I'm an easy-going kind of guy, so I said, 'I'm not going to let this beat me; I'll beat it.' It's just a bump in the road for me and I try to keep a positive attitude about it." - Dan Reichert

University of the Pacific M.L.B. Player Alumnus

The University of the Pacific baseball program started in 1851 (when the school was still known as California Wesleyan College) and Grant Dunlap was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of the Pacific Hall of Fame.

The University of the Pacific has a long and distinguished set of traditions. Baseball Almanac is pleased to present both their alma mater and Tiger Fight Song:

Pacific Hail!

From o’er the rugged muntains standing high;
From Out the broad low valleys, ’neath the sky;
Our alma mater calls, We cannot fail,
Our voices blend in praise, Pacific Hail’ Pacific Hail!
Long may her flaming torch give out its light;
Long may her spirit guide us in the right;
To her we pledge Out’ hearts, We dare not fail;
To her we raise our song,
Pacific Hail! Pacific Hail!

Tiger Fight Song

Come on you hungry tigers - fight - fight - fight
Let’s win the game you tigers - fight - fight - fight
See the tigers breaking through, After goals, we’ll get them too -
Fighting for UOP, We’re after victory -
So hail, oh hail the orange and black
See those banners gleam -
We’ll shout for fame, Cause we’ll win the game!
We’re the fighting tiger - We’re the fighting tiger -
We’re the fighting tiger team!
