24 Consecutive Wins by Carl Hubbell
In the 1930s and 40s, no pitcher could rival the great Carl Hubbell of the New York Giants. He won over twenty games every season from 1933 to 1937 and had only one losing season (in which he lost only one game more than he won) in his sixteen seasons of play. No one ever thought he'd out-do his performance in the 1934 All Star Game in which he struck out five men in a row, who's names just happened to be Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin, but from July 17, 1936 to May 27, 1937 he set a new mark, one that has yet to be reached.
In the twenty-seven games he appeared in during that span, King Carl had twenty-four consecutive wins with only three no decisions. It took Hubbell only 207.2 innings to accomplish one of the greatest pitching feats in baseball history and lead his team to two consecutive World Series appearances. The nine time All Star and 1936 Most Valuable Player recipient was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1947, ten years after his great accomplishment.

"The screwball's an un-natural pitch. Nature never intended a man to turn his hand like that, it's like throwing rocks at a bear." - Hall of Fame Pitcher Carl Hubbell

In total Carl Hubbell started twenty-two (22) games during the record setting streak and was a reliever in five (5) of them: July 19, 1936, August 11, 1936, August 12, 1936, September 14, 1936, and May 27, 1937.
Did you know that King Carl finished the 1936 regular season with twenty-six (26) wins, six (6) losses, and a 2.31 earned run average; not to mention a well deserved Most Valuable Player Award?
Had baseball had a save record during the 1936 season, Carl Hubbell would have earned two (2) of them during the two (2) relief appearances he had against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
