500 Home Runs Club

The 500 Home Runs Club is a personal plateau and not an actual award given to any player. The passage of time has placed more significance on the attainment of this goal and memorabilia shows are often conducted and advertised using the term five-hundred home run member.

This is a truly an elite club of powerful sluggers that few belong to, and many only dream of coming near. Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the most comprehensive look at the 500 Home Runs Club found anywhere on the internet. Box scores of each historic 500th home run game, interesting fast facts and career breakdowns of every club member are included (bold denotes active during more recent season).

"Every time I sign a ball, and there must have been thousands, I thank my luck that I wasn't born Coveleski, or Wambsganss or Peckinpaugh." - 500 Home Runs Club Member Mel Ott

Postseason Home Runs

Did you know that Hank Aaron hit a major league leading seven-hundred fifty-five career home runs and exactly one inside the park home run?

Twenty-four members belong to the 500 Home Runs Club and only five of them have hit all of their career home runs with one club. Those solo-franchise five are Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs, Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees, Mel Ott of the New York Giants, Mike Schmidt of the Philadelphia Phillies and Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox.

Members who have not hit a home run during a World Series? Ernie Banks, Ken Griffey Jr., Willie Mays, Rafael Palmeiro, Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Frank Thomas and Ted Williams. Members who have not hit a home run during an All-Star Game? Mark McGwire, Eddie Murray, Mel Ott and Rafael Palmeiro.
