Single Season Leaders for Caught Stealing

Stealing in a game is legal, but getting caught could easily cost your team at a chance for scoring. Highly proficient base thieves dominate this list making the old argument about the value of a steal debatable.

Raw speed and the ability to steal a base are needed to appear on Baseball Almanac's chart of the top one-hundred (100) single season caught stealing leaders as if you are not attempting the steal, you could not get caught stealing as often as these players have. Note: A bold faced entry denotes that the player was active during the previous Major League season.

"He (Rickey Henderson) creates a buzz. The two-sided thing for us is he will put people in the seats, and he can still play a little bit." - Surf Dawgs Manager Terry Kennedy in the Union Tribune (05/09/2005)
