These are the National League ballplayers that were there — really there. So close in fact that they were hit by the pitch, either intentionally or unintentionally by the opposing team's pitcher(s).

Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the top one-hundred (100) single season National League leaders for hit by pitch. Note: A bold faced entry denotes that the player was active during the previous Major League season.
"That's Don Baylor, who started his career as a Baltimore Oriole and set the major league record for being hit by a pitch 267 times," the guide told a gaggle of fans. Baylor laughed.
