In 1945 Boston Braves outfielder Tommy Holmes set the Major League record for most hits with two-hundred twenty-four while striking out less than ten times —he only had nine.

Red Ruffing had five-hundred twenty-one career hits as a pitcher and maintained a batting average of .269 setting the record for most hits by a pitcher during a career.

In 1947 Eddie Lake of the Detroit Tigers set the Major League record for fewest hits with one-hundred sixty-seven by a player with at least six-hundred at bats.
