League By League Total Base Totals

Did you know that 1993 was the first season where the Major League total broke 60,000 total bases. Did you know five short years later it broke 70,000?

During the 1921 season Babe Ruth had four-hundred fifty-seven total bases setting the Major League record for most total bases during a single season.

On July 31, 1954, Joe Adcock set a Major League record when he had 18 total bases during a game — one double and four home runs. Nearly 50 years later Shawn Green set a new Major League standard when he went 6-for-6 at the plate on May 24, 2002, racking up 19 total bases — one single, one double and four home runs.
