2002 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

On December 1, 2001, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) began voting for future inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The ballot below is an actual example of the one used by writers during the election and it had to be returned by December 31, 2001. Election results will be announced on January 8, 2002.

The ballot contained the names of twenty-eight eligible candidates including players who received at least 5% of the ballots cast in 2001, and first year players that are selected by a screening committee and designated by a '+' next to their name on the sample ballot.

"Ozzie (Smith) is the best young infielder I've ever seen. Very soon he's going to be one of the best shortstops in baseball, if not the best." - San Diego Padres Manager Roger Craig
