In 1924, the new issue of Baseball Fanthology was released. In that issue appeared the following list of biblical names and what actions they took. Using baseball as a context, Ed Lyman wrote a classic list that has long since be written and re-written over and over with many different variations.

5	Moses shut out the Egyptians at the Red Sea.
6	Cain made an error when he killed Abel.
7	Abraham made a sacrifice.
8	The prodigal son made a home run.
9	David was a long distance thrower.

During the twenties and thirties, Baseball Fanthology was one of the most popular baseball magazines in existence.

Ed Lyman, who authored this legendary list, was also one of the principal Baseball Fanthology writers, yet he never played, coached, or managed baseball.
