Depending upon the source, some believe that this franchise won their first game (May 9, 1878) on a no-hitter tossed by Sam Weaver. However, Baseball Almanac does not include it in their list as one of the official scorers awarded a hit to John Clapp while another did not.
On May 14, 1878, the first National League game was played in the city of Milwaukee. Approximately one-thousand five-hundred fans attended that Opening Day game and the Cream City club beat the Reds 8-5.
