Did you know that this American Association team, who became the modern National League's Pittsburgh Pirates in 1891 (click for their managers) was also called the Pittsburgh Alleghenys from 1887 through 1889 (click the link for their managers)?

Following their last place finish during the 1891 season / yet another one-hundred loss season, the Pittsburgh Alleghenys fired their manager (Guy Hecker) and changed their name to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On August 16, 1890, Bill Phillips of the Pittsburgh Alleghenys became the first pitcher in Major League history to give up two grand slams during the same inning.
