Career Leaders for Wins

The goal every pitcher has when he places his pitching foot on the rubber and lets the ball loose is to win. Never an easy item to accomplish on the Major League level and always a challenge to maintain a a good winning percentage.

Wins never have, nor will they ever become easy to obtain and Baseball Almanac is pleased to present the top one-hundred (100) all time wins leaders. Note: A bold faced entry denotes that the player was active during the previous Major League season.

"I'll never be considered one of the all time greats." - Jim Kaat (#28 Ranked Major League Wins Leader)

Did you know that Pud Galvin, who finished his career with three-hundred sixty-one (361) wins, was the first pitcher to win at least three-hundred (300) games? He is also, by default, the founder / first member of the 300 Wins Club.

Cy Young, who is ranked number one (1) in all time wins with five-hundred eleven (511) career victories, is also the all time loss leader in Major League history.

Every eligible pitcher with three-hundred (300) or more wins is enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Do writers place as much importance on strikeouts? Check the 3,000 Strikeouts Club and see for yourself.
