Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt (548), Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews (512) and soon-to-be (since inducted, in 2018) Hall of Famer Chipper Jones (468)." - Stavenhagen, Cody. MLB Staff Writer. Adrián Beltré Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Trivia time: Six players, including Adrián, in major league history have hit for the cycle three times during the career. Beltré holds one unique distinction from the rest of the sextet, he completed all three cycles in the same ballpark, a feat never duplicated in baseball history! You can look it up: Cycle #1, Cycle #2, Cycle #3. [Cycle Records]
Did you know that Adrián Beltré was the first third baseman to ever win a Fielding Bible Award (2006), the first to win two (2008), three (2011), and four (2012)? Did you know that when Wilson Sporting Goods began issuing a Defensive Player of The Year Award, Belt Beltré e was the first third baseman to win it as well? Rawlings has a long history (since 1957) of awarding a Gold Glove to the best defensive player at each position, Beltré has won four Gold Gloves at Third Base already, but in 2011 Rawlings began giving a Platinum Glove for the best defensive player in the entire league — Beltré won in the American League that year, and the year after that!
Did you know that Adrián Beltré totally hated anyone touching his head? Over the course of his Hall of Fame career, he exhibited total disdain when anyone touched his head and asked when it all started, he said, "I don't remember, but somebody did it and I told them I didn't like it. That's like telling them to do it again. You know they're going to do it because you don't like it. So they started doing it over and over again." Hundreds of videos showing his reaction (example below), funny memes, teammates instigating him, opponents teasing attempts, and even the Philly Fanatic has feigned a head-touching. Beltré said, "I don't like it. I don't let anyone touch my head. Not even my kids." Source: Texas Rangers Interview. Beltré doesn't like his head touched. 21 January 2017.
