Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"I don't know why he's not in the Hall of Fame because Bobby (Bonds) could do a lot of things. If you're looking at numbers, he had 30-30 (homers-stolen bases) many times. He had speed, he had power, he could throw and he knew how to play right field. I feel he should be in the Hall of Fame right along with us." - Mays, Willie. Mays says Bobby Bonds Hall-worthy. Johnson, Chuck. USA Today Staff Writer. 24 August 2003.

Did you know that when Bobby Bonds hit 32 home runs and stole 45 bases in 1969, he became the second Giants player to join the 30 / 30 Club (30 Home Runs and 30 Stolen Bases in the Same Season)? Bonds was the first from the Giants in a San Francisco uniform, joining Willie Mays who was a two-time 30 / 30 player when the franchise was still located in New York.

Did you know that when Bobby Bonds hit 32 homers and stole 30 bases with the New York Yankees in 1975, he became the first three-time 30-30 player, the first player with a 30-30 season in both the American and National League, and the first Bronx Bomber with a 30-30 season!

Did you know that if you add Bobby Bonds career home runs (332) with Barry Bonds career home runs (762), they hold the record for most home runs in baseball history by a father & son combination?

Bobby Bonds, Dwight Evans, Bobby Grich, and Jim Wynn — players who homered in a 1-0 game, four times during their career. One player has done it five times. His name is? [Answer]

One of those four 1-0 games (by Bonds) occurred on April 28, 1973, and the homer hit by Bobby was a leadoff shot, versus Reggie Cleveland, and it was the first time in a franchise history where a Giants 1-0 game was decided by a leadoff home run.

After retiring, Bobby Bonds had hit a Major League record thirty-five leadoff home runs, shattering the record once held by Eddie Yost (1944-1962, twenty-seven leadoff homers). Bonds' record has since been broken by Brady Anderson (44 leadoff homers), Craig Biggio (53 leadoff homers), and Rickey Henderson (81 leadoff homers). [Home Runs in a Career Record Book]
