Bret Boone was born on Sunday, April 6, 1969, in El Cajon, California. Boone was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on August 19, 1992, with the Seattle Mariners. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Bret Boone baseball stats page.
"On the last day of the 1998 season, the Reds helped Bret Boone make baseball trivia history by starting the only infield ever composed of two sets of brothers (Box Score): first baseman Stephen Larkin, second baseman Bret Boone, future Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, and their baseman Aaron Boone. During a 1991 interview, Ray Boone said: 'Bret came out of the womb hitting. He lived with us when Bob was doing his six months military service. Bret was barely two years old, but ever day I'd be out there in the backyard throwing Wiffle balls him. Bret crushed so many balls over the house that I called [former manager] Dave Garcia and told him to come watch the kid. Dave took one look at his swing and offered to sign him.'" - Brodley, Hal. Baseball Almanac Collection
There have been over 350 sets of brothers who have played Major League Baseball, but very few pairs each collected at least 100 home runs across their respective careers. Bret (252 home runs) and his brother Aaron (126 home runs), were just the fourth pair of brothers in baseball history (100+ career home runs each), joining Joe DiMaggio (361 home runs) & Vince DiMaggio (125 home runs), Ken Boyer (282 home runs) & Clete Boyer (162 home runs), and Bob Meusel (156 home runs) and Irish Meusel (106 home runs).
Bret Boone & Mike Cameron | The Indianapolis Star | May 3, 2002
On May 2, 2002, Mike Cameron hit four home runs in the same game. Why did we mention this here? Because two of the four home runs he hit occurred during the first inning. In the same exact inning, Bret Boone homered twice as well, the first teammates ever to both hit two home runs in the same inning.
